that Emulate Nature
We create landscapes inspired by the complexity and efficiency of nature. We only use plants adapted to climate extremes. We feature edible plants, permeable surfaces and food sources for local wildlife and pollinators whenever possible. Species that also naturally improve soil and can survive on minimal inputs from landscape owners are our favorites. Most importantly we plant in community to allow species to compliment and shelter one another as nature intended.
Briana Lyon founded C A L I F I A E C O design in 2014 to put environmentally appropriate and earth-repairing plants into the ground. Califia's exceptional design aesthetics and unique approach to plant functionality have helped build demand for sustainable environmental planning and permaculture design in Southern California. C A L I F I A was inspired by the namesake of California: a mythical 16th-century island queen. It's mission: to improve the sustainabilty & artistry of landscapes while blending the boundaries of urban and rural habitats for the benefit of plants, animals and humans alike. Designing and planting eco-wise and resource producing landscapes and plants is one of the fastest, lowest-impact and most appealing ways to help reverse pollution, protect against climate change and minimize future habitat destruction. Whether it means blending traditional landscape demands with modern sustainability practices or complete re-envisioning a degraded site C A L I F I A E C O designs is ready for the challenge.
